Last year, while Emily and Uncle Mike were on a bike ride, they stopped by one of Emily's favorite parks to play only to discover swastika signs spray painted everywhere. Emily was extremely upset and with deep concern asked Uncle Mike what they were. His response was perfect. PIRATES. Pirates had taken over and left their signs everywhere.
For the past year every time Uncle Mike visits Emily is in full pirate mode so it seemed only appropriate this summer to throw a pirate party for them just for fun. It was a last minute attempt, with all homemade quick crafts but it was a huge success...
We made costumes, pirate hats, fishing poles and fish, telescopes, eye patches, swords and treasure chests filled with gold doubloons...
The kids did a little posing for me before their guests arrived...
Then the kids rushed around to each activity, quickly testing out each one...
Jack found a REAL spider in his water...
The gold doubloons were a huge hit...
Grandpa Jim was our very first guest...
There was a whole bunch of peering through telescopes going on...
...then a full on attack on Grandpa...
We took a little break to enjoy our pirate snacks...Pirates Booty,
GOLD fish crackers and pirate cupcakes...
Uncle Mike and Grandma Emily joined us soon after for some more piratey fun. The kids quickly picked up their poles and showed Uncle Mike how to catch some fish...
Jack was so excited about his catch that he "gobbled" it up within a few seconds...
After some full bellies Emily changed out of her pirate costume and decided that she was a prisoner and needed to walk the plank...
I LOVE the imagination this little girl has...
We spent the rest of the time enjoying each other's company...

LOVED this day. LOVE these peeps. Thank you for making our pirate day so special for my babies.
I am sure there will be MANY more pirate days ahead of us during our long summer days together. We are always up for a good day full of imagination and play.
